Welcome To Alistair Davies Golf

At present I am the Head Golf Professional at the flagship Marriott Forest of Arden resort, a position held since 2013.

My professional coaching career began in 1999 when I passed my PGA exams with Honours, achieving a highly coveted 3rd place in the Trainee of the Year Awards. As reward for doing so, I received a Scholarship from title sponsor Titleist and Footjoy Worldwide.

Coaching is my passion and I have worked with numerous professionals, elite amateurs, national academy squads and numerous county squads.

In 2005 I was selected by the Professionals Golfers Association (PGA) to lecture, train and develop students from The University of Birmingham for the Applied Golf Management Studies (AGMS), a unique degree between the PGA and The University. This allows students to gain both a theoretical and academic understanding of the golf swing combined with the PGA professional status. Furthermore I am also a swing examiner for trainee Professionals undertaking their final PGA examinations.

After several years of continued professional development in 2013, my status within the PGA was upgraded to Advanced Fellow Status (AFPGA), an achievement that I am recognised for and extremely proud of.

TrackMan is the industry standard for accuracy,

flexibility, reliability, and ease of use. It is the choice of the PGA Tour, USGA and R&A for swing and ball flight analysis. A staple on professional tours, with leading educators, club fitters, manufacturers and players.

Designed for beginners to the complete golfer – TrackMan® provides the platform that helps you improve your golf game, whether you are a tour pro or a Sunday golfer looking to cut a few strokes off your round.

It is the industry leader in measuring club head delivery and the entirety of the balls flight from launch to landing. The golf radar can pick up valuable information about your club head, giving a precise picture of the club during impact. With the aid of this revolutionary machine determining what needs to be adjusted has never been so simple.

The technology used is called Doppler and has been widely used in military applications to track missiles and projectiles since the 1960s. It has now been adapted for golf and tracks shots within a range of short pitches to 400 yard drives. It delivers unparalleled accuracy and data, displaying the actual 3D trajectory in real time and providing 26 different parameters. It displays both the graphics and parameters in this easy to use layout.

The Combine Test Benchmark your game

TrackMan Combine is a standardised test, enabling golfers and the instructor to identify strengths and weaknesses – as well as compare their performance to other peers. This is a superb way to take your game to the next level, as focus can be placed on the identified weak areas.

The test consists of 60 shots; each is scored on a scale of 0-100. The client will hit 6 shots to 60 yards, 70, 80, 90, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, and with the driver. Once this is complete, an overall score will be given and the results will be uploaded on your Trackman account at www.mytrackman.com. This allows students and teachers to review results at anytime. click > here < for latest scoreboard.

The database consists of thousands of scores. The range of participants stretches from major championship winners to 25 handicappers and everywhere in between.

Train like a tour player

In 2009 I started a programme called Train like a tour player, with the aim to provide young aspiring golfers with the tools and support needed to become a tour player.

I designed a outline programme based upon meeting this goal but also believe that all golfers are individual and their programme would need to be personally designed.

The programme is a rolling one year plan, and would be designed based on indivual needs. Evidence would need to be gathered in order to create a bespoke plan.

  • The outline programme includes:
  • Technical lessons
  • Performance lessons
  • 3D biomechanical lessons
  • On course analyst
  • How to prepare for tournaments
  • Phycology
  • Practice plans
  • Club Fitting
  • Pool training sessions
  • Physical screenings

The programme can be paid for as you go along, or by a monthly or yearly contract.

The programme is delivered by myself and a team of experts in the relevant fields.

For more details please e mail me directly.

The Forest of Arden, a Marriott Hotel and Country Club

Set in 10,000 acres of Warwickshire parkland, the Forest of Arden, A Marriott Hotel and Country Club boasts two 18-hole golf courses with the ability to challenge golfers of all abilities. The Championship Arden Course has played host to a succession of European Tour Events, such as the British Masters and English Open, and has seen golfing greats, such as Colin Montgomerie and 2011 Open Champion Darren Clarke, crowned victorious. The Aylesford course may not have the reputation of its sister course, but it still makes for a tricky round of golf that will challenge even the more advanced golfers. The par 69 golf course uses its intricate design including challenging water hazards and tough-to-read greens that will make accuracy an important trait to scoring low around this enjoyable golf course.

The venue also has a 16 bay floodlit driving range with extensive short game and bunker area and separate putting green, this is the perfect facility to help take your game to the next level.

Alistair is a excellent coach, mentor and role model. He is a extremely hard worker and always find ways to improve and become more knowledgeable about the fundamentals of the golf swing and golf itself. Alistair also adapts very well to each players needs and always finds the best method to help each individual player achieve their goals. Personally I have been working with Alistair for over 8 years and he has been a huge help both on and off the course, this has been a huge help to my golf swing and game. I currently play off a handicap of plus 2 and have goals of playing professionally. Without all of Alistair’s hard work, patience and structure I wouldn’t of achieved the success so far in my golfing career. I would always recommend Alistair to anyone who plays golf what ever level they are at weather it be just starting, elite or professional levels.

Freddie Sheridan-Mills

Alistair was recommended to me by a friend and when I first met Alistair I was a 26 handicap and playing much worse. After working with Alistair over a period of time my handicap is now down to 20 and is very much still on a downward trajectory. Key to this has been Alistair’s approach to learning. His style is collaborative, he breaks his learning objectives down in to small manageable chunks and never gives you more than a couple of areas to work on. Alistair is not like other coaches – if he can see one drill is not achieving the desired results he will approach a problem from a different angle, rather than persevering with something that isn’t working. He realises the importance of an all-round focus to golf improvement e.g. biomechanics, flexibility, mental toughness and can recommend a number of other professionals to assist in these areas. !!!!!!

Case Studies

Ben Russell

Ben came to me for lessons as a novice golfer with no handicap and a best score of 136.

Within a year Ben broke 70 with a best score of 66. In 2013

Ben turned professional after a successful amateur career and achieving a handicap of plus 2.

In his first year as a professional he produced a win on a mini tour.
